Helping homeless students in Alamance County

Photobucket
The last few weeks, we have been overwhelmed by those that have been asking to be part of something above and beyond this year in the areas of their finances.  God did some amazing things in the lives of so many of our PRC families during our Busted Financial Teaching Series and so many people are wanting to be part of advancing the mission of God’s church at a higher capacity.  I am so excited to see our church asking and desiring to financially invest in more.  It truly shows the spiritual maturity and responsibility that is taking place within our church.

The staff and I, have listened to your requests, and this Easter I’m inviting everyone connected to Pine Ridge Church to participate in, The Easter Offering.  This is where we will all give above and beyond our regular tithes and offering and use our collaborative financial resources to make a lasting impact.  Below is one of the ways that we will be using our Easter Offering to bring the love of Jesus to kids and families in our community.

ALAMANCE COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM
This year, more than ever, we are really trying to make an impact right here in our own community.  In the coming weeks, you are going to learn more about a partnership we are forming with the Alamance County School System.  It has been brought to our attention that there are over 560 homeless students right here in our backyard.  Students that have no clothing, no shoes, no regular source of food, and little availability to hygiene.  There is a program through the Alamance County School System called McKinney Vento Students.  This program is designed to help resource, feed, and clothe this children.  The drop-out rate for these kids is so high because of their poor living standards.  This program, like many programs in our community, has little funding and is in desperate need of help.

I really want our church to make a HUGE impact on the lives of these kids and families. We just heard about an 18 year boy, who is living in the woods, has not legal guardians, washes his clothes at the school, and lives out of his locker.  I don’t know about you, but that absolutely breaks my heart.  We can all do something about this injustice in our community.

So, this is where Pine Ridge Church is going to get involved.  We want to help financially resource this program and impact the lives of the kids and families.  It is not our desire to always create another church program or another church ministry, but rather find some great organizations that are already doing an amazing job, and do whatever it takes to make sure they are successful.  A major portion of everything that comes in from our Easter Offering will go directly to impacting these students and their families.  We will also be telling you more in the next few weeks and months on ways that we can also meet some tangible needs like clothing, shoes, food, toiletry items, etc.

On April 8th, we will receive The Easter Offering after our Easter Service.  We will not have a special offering during the service.  We are making this giving opportunity available to those that would like to participate.  We will have a designated area where you can give your gift on Easter Weekend without making the entire church be a part of it.  We will also be providing special envelopes and we are encouraging everyone to come prepared to give on that day.  As usual, you can give early by mailing your gift in or by utilizing online giving.  Just visit www.prcgiving.com and please make sure to select “Easter Offering” in the drop-down menu.

God has given his church the greatest mission ever and we’re blessed to be able to join him in reaching our community for Jesus Christ and advancing the Gospel!

I am so proud of our church!

Sunday Follow-Up

This past Sunday, Pastor Tadd closed our Busted teaching series talking about the principle of generosity.  The teaching wasn’t so much about giving like so many of us are accustomed to, the principle was about being a generous person.  The fact is that we are blessed to be a blessing to others. If we believe that our blessings come from God, then we shouldn’t be hoarding those blessings, but rather being generous with what God has given to us.  We have been blown away by the response of our church.  If you missed this past weeks message, then check it out online at PineRidgeChurch.tv on Wednesday or Thursday night at 8p.

Below is a snapshot of some of the tools and events that we have coming up:

1. Free Financial Tools and Free Financial Counseling
If you haven’t yet download the free financial tools, then take a moment to click the link below to do that.  Those tools will really help you in regards to getting yourself on a budget, getting out of debt, and finding financial freedom.  Don’t forget we are also offering FREE financial counseling.

On March 31st, PRC is dropping 30,000 Easter Eggs from a helicopter at Cedar Rock Park. There is also going to be pony rides, inflatables, hayrides, food, and more.  This is going to be a community event and we anticipating thousands of people in attendance.  You’ll be getting plenty of information about this event in the coming weeks, but for now, we seriously need your help.  We are asking everyone that attends PRC to sign-up to volunteer.  There is going to be a lot going on that day and we need all hands on deck as we serve our community.  If you’re interested in volunteering at this event, then email Brandon Delk and he’ll be in contact with you shortly.

3. PineRidgeU Evangelism Class | Begins March 11th @ 9:30a | Ignite Students Room
If you desire to learn how to invite others to church and how to share your faith with the people you care about the most, then this is the class for you.  We are rapidly approaching Easter [April 8th] and we know that many of you have expressed interest in inviting someone to church or sharing your faith with someone.  The truth is that many of us desire to tell others, but we just aren’t quite sure how to do it.  We’d love to equip you with some tools that will give you confidence as you talk with others about your church or what Jesus has done in your life.  CLICK HERE to register online for this FREE class!

4. Giving at PRC
God influences the world through His people and His people are what make-up His church. Every dollar you give to PRC makes an impact in this community and across the earth for the glory of Jesus Christ; the Gospel is preached, lives are changed, the hungry are fed, and you, in turn, are blessed by God so that you can continue to be a blessing for God. PRC will not advance without the faithful and intentional giving of our church. We are praying that you would truly make God the first priority in your finances this year. The reality is this, if you don’t make God the priority in your finances, then something or someone else will always compete to be your priority.

There are many ways to begin giving at PRC, but here a just a few:

  • Sign-up for Automated Giving and you can have your bank account automatically drafted
  • Giving online weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly
  • Setting up automatic bill pay through your bank
  • Mailing in your gifts to 904 East Main Street | Haw River, NC 27258
  • Giving on Sunday mornings during our time of giving

Have a great week!!

Sunday Follow-up

Yesterday, Pastor Tadd kicked-off our new ‘Busted’ financial teaching series by laying a foundation on how we view our finances.  The fact that a good majority of us are living paycheck to paycheck and most of the time we feel flat busted.  When it comes to our fiances and debt, many of us feel like slaves to those that we owe many to.  Pastor Tadd asked us to evaluate if we were slaves when it came to our finances or if we were managers.  He also asked us to define the vision that God has for your finances and to begin establishing a plan for your finances.  This message obviously struck a chord, because we’ve had so many people asking for help in regards to getting their fiances in order.  We know those things can be tough to do alone, so we want to help however we can.

Below is a link to a page on our website.  Once there, you will find all sorts of FREE financial tools that will help you get started with things like making budget or documents that will help you know how quickly you can pay off debt, and more.  Go there and download whatever documents you’d like.  If you need further help, we’d love to offer FREE financial counseling.  Financial Counselors would love to help you put together a budget and plan to get out of debt and to stay out of debt.  The page below will give you all the information you need to get started.

Sunday Follow-Up

Yesterday, Pastor Tadd, wrapped up our Now What? series by teaching us the importance of “breaking bread” together as a church family.  He laid out what the Bible has to say about Followers of Jesus loving one another, praying for one another, and slowing down the busyness of our lives to make time for one another.  Pastor Tadd emphasized 5 ways for us to practically begin taking the next step in our walk with Jesus.  Here are 5 ways/opportunities for you to begin living this out on a weekly basis:

1. Join a LifeGroup.  LifeGroups are small groups of people that meet in homes throughout our community.  They spend time discussing the messages we hear at PRC each week, they eat together, and do fun activities together.  This is a great way for you to get plugged in and begin building relationships with other Followers of Jesus who want to pray for you, encourage you, and be there for when you need someone.  We really encourage you to give a LifeGroup a try.  We have various LifeGroups that meet on different nights of the week to accommodate your schedule.  If you’re interested in joining a LifeGroup, then simply email Will Hatten and he will be in contact with you shortly.

2.  Pine Ridge U – Next Steps Class.  Next Steps Class begins this Sunday and will run from Feb. 5th – 26th. This class is designed for you to find-out more about taking the next step in your relationship with Jesus. We plan to educate, equip, and resource you with what we believe that God wants next for your life. You’ll be able to ask questions and we’ll do our best to get you pointed in the right direction. This class will be held from 9:30a-10:30a in our Ignite Students Room. Get registered online HERE!

3.  Join a Bible Study Group.  Every Tuesday morning at 6:00a & Tuesday night at 6:30p, the men of PRC gather at the church for a time of Bible study and prayer.  Our PRC ladies have a time of prayer and Bible study every Thursday night at 6:30p at PRC as well.  These groups also gather throughout the year to take part in other fun activities outside of the church.

4.  Monthly Night or Prayer.  Beginning Tuesday Feb. 7th at 6:30p, we will hold a monthly night of prayer at PRC.  This will be open to anyone that wants to attend.  We will hold these night of prayers on the first Tuesday night of every month.  We will use this time to pray for our church, the needs of our church, the needs in our community, what God is planning and doing within our church, and much more.  We want to make prayer an even bigger priority for our church this year.  Pastor Tadd often quotes his childhood pastor who said. “Nothing of eternal significance has ever happened outside of prayer”.  We believe that God has something huge in store for our church this year and we want every decision we make to begin and end in prayer.

5.  Volunteer Teams.  Volunteer Teams are a great way to live out our calling as Followers of Jesus within the local church.  We know that Jesus himself was the greatest servant and our life has been called to model His.  Our Volunteer Teams make everything we do at PRC possible.  We offer teams ranging from our PRC Kids and PRC Student teams, our Guest Services teams, our PRC Cafe, our Production Team, our Parking Team, our Workshop Wednesday team, our first time decision follow-up team, and more.  There are plenty of opportunities for you to get connected to team and begin serving with others that are passionate about seeing the church advance.  If you’re interested in joining at team, then email Brandon Delk and he will contact you shortly.

These are 5 simple ways for you to take the next step in getting connected with others at PRC.  We encourage you to give one, if not all, of these areas a try.  It is our desire for you to build relationships within our church and these are just a few of the ways for you to do that.  Give one of these areas a try and just see what it has to offer.

The next step is yours,
PRC

4 Practical Ways To Start 2012 Off Right At PRC…

This morning, Pastor Tadd, challenged our church to truly begin embracing our vision statement of “Doing Whatever It Takes To Reach People Far From God”.  Pastor Tadd asked everyone to take some honest assessment of our own involvement and to ask ourselves, “Are you truly a Whatever It Takes person?”  When it comes to your time, your connection to others, your serving, your passion for reaching people far from God, and your finances.  Are you doing “Whatever It Takes” in every area of your life?

So many people asked us after the service how they can start this year off right, get involved at PRC, and begin living out “Whatever It Takes”.  We’ve put together a short list of some incredible opportunities for you to get involved.  These opportunities, when embraced by everyone at our church, will enable us to advance the vision God has given us for our church.  We’re praying that we will see involvement, attendance, obedience, and ownership rise to a new level in 2012.  As a result, we believe God is going to exceed our expectations.  Are you willing to do whatever it takes?

1.  Volunteering.  Our Volunteers are the VIP of our church.  Sundays would not happen if were not for our incredible volunteer teams.  If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer at PRC or maybe you’ve just fallen away from a team you were once working with, then email Chris Wilkinson.

2.  LifeGroups.  LifeGroups are small groups of people that are specifically designed to make a large church smaller and more intimate.  These groups meet during the week in different homes throughout our community.  They spend time digging through Sundays message, asking and answering questions, praying together, and spend time together doing other fun activities outside of the church.  This is a great place to connect and to get to know some other families at PRC that truly love, care, and want to get to know you.  If you’re interested in learning more about LifeGroups or getting plugged, then email Will Hatten.

3.  PineRidgeU.  Pine Ridge University, is something you’re going to be hearing a lot more about in the next few weeks.  PRU, is going to give you an opportunity to attend classes that will equip, train, disciple, and teach you on various topics.  Our first class will be offered later this month and we’ll be telling you how, when, and where to get plugged in.  Stay tuned!

4.  Giving.

  1. Sign-up for Automated Giving and you can have your bank account automatically drafted
  2. Giving online weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly
  3. Setting up automatic bill pay through your bank
  4. Mailing in your gifts to 904 East Main Street | Haw River, NC 27258
  5. Giving on Sunday mornings during our time of giving

These are four great ways to practically start locking-in at PRC.  We truly believe that God has some incredible things planned for our church this year.  We are praying that you and your family take some serious ownership of your church in 2012.  If we are going to be a church that does, “Whatever It Takes”, then we have to be people that are willing to do “Whatever It Takes”.   Our prayer is that we can do this together.  Let’s test God at His word and just see what He has in store!

After a week away, we are once again having service this Sunday at 10:00a!!  Pastor Tadd will share some awesome things that God has placed on His heart for PRC.  This will be a day of vision, clarity, worship, and prayer for where God is leading PRC in 2012.  Don’t miss it!!

2. 2 SERVICES BEGIN NEXT SUNDAY | 9:30A & 11:00A
Next Sunday [Jan. 8th], 2 Sunday morning services return to PRC. 2 services will allow us 2 incredible opportunities to reach people in our community that are far from God. We cannot even begin to tell you the excitement our staff, volunteers, and volunteer leaders are about returning to 2 Sunday morning services. Help us get starting getting the word out now!!

3. VISION NIGHT | JANUARY 5TH | 6:30P
