Here are a few quick hits of what is going on at Pine Ridge Church this week!

1. BAPTISMS | SEPT. 19TH.
On September 19th, we will be having Baptisms as part of our Sunday morning worship experience and we would love for you to be part of it. If you’ve recently given your life to Christ or you have never been baptized before – we would love for you to take the next step in telling the world that you belong to Christ through Baptism. You can read more about what Baptism is below and sign-up as well. We look forward to celebrating this day with you!!

The Bible clearly teaches that Baptism is the next step after giving your life to Jesus. Baptism is your chance to stand up and tell the world about your personal commitment to follow Jesus.

Baptism isn’t what saves you, but it’s an outward symbol of your inner commitment to follow Christ. In a way, Baptism is a lot like a wedding ring. The ring doesn’t make you married, but it’s a symbol of your love and devotion to your spouse, and that your life is being lived for someone else.

2. GROUPLINK | SEPT. 19TH | 5P-6P
GroupLink is simply designed to facilitate a beginning or connection to a LifeGroup. We understand that the jump from the Worship Auditorium to someone’s living room is a big one. GroupLink bridges that gap by allowing you to start from scratch with a brand new group that is being formed. It also allows you an opportunity to connect with your LifeGroup leader and the people that will be included in your LifeGroup.

3. 3 YR. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION | SEPT. 12TH
God’s plan for each of us and his church is bigger than any of us could EVER imagine. Pine Ridge started as a small launch team of 12 people and has grown into a church with a brand new facility, averaging 400+ in attendance weekly. The explanation? People have had their lives changed by jesus, as a result, they’ve told their friends who have also been changed by jesus.

So what’s next for you? What’s next for us? What’s next for Pine Ridge? Only God knows. But one thing we do know… “The Best is Yet To Come”!!

Here are a few quick hits of what is going on at Pine Ridge Church this week!

1. LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE | CONTINUES THIS SUNDAY

Last week, we discussed the lie, “I’m a ‘Good Christian’”. It’s a lie that many people have convinced themselves of and one that our spiritual enemy loves to feed us. Bottom line is this – God didn’t call us to just be ‘Good Christians’. In fact, He called us to a great responsiblity and a greater calling. He called for us to live a life that is wholly and fully surrendered to Him – a life of ‘No But’s’. This simple truth is that many of us are living this life with a ‘Big Ol’ But’ and I believe it’s time we got off of our ‘Spiritual But’s’ in order to make a difference for Him.

2. VBS BEACH BLAST | BEGINS TONIGHT!!

DESCRIPTION:
Beach Blast is a FREE event for children 3 yrs-6th grade. Beach Blast is an experience specifically designed with your kid(s) in mind, one where they can learn about God in a setting that is fun and full of energy. Each child will be placed on a team and be involved in a small group according to their age. These teams will be involved in games, worship, crafts, and snacks – all while learning about who they can be in Christ. We have an awesome group of team leaders that are passionate about giving your kid(s) the time of their lives. This is not your typical Vacation Bible School, we promise!

SCHEDULE:
August 18th & 19th from 6:00p – 8:00p
August 20th from 5:00p – 9:00p [Family Night includes inflatables, games, free food, and giveaways. Free for the whole family].

Here are a few quick hits of what is going on at Pine Ridge Church this week!

1. LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE | CONTINUES THIS SUNDAY

Last week, we discussed the lie that “Everyone is Welcome”. We’ve heard a lot of churches make this claim, but in reality we know it isn’t always the case. The fact is, no church is perfect. We are fully aware that we are no where near being a perfect church. Our church falls under the authority, vision, and direction from God, but it is ran by imperfect – fallible people that aren’t always going to get it right. In knowing that, we must accept that fact that nobody’s perfect and everyone is always welcome because NO ONE is perfect. This simple truth is that God loves imperfect people.

2. VBS BEACH BLAST | AUG. 18TH-20TH

Beach Blast is a FREE event for children 3 yrs-6th grade. Beach Blast is an experience specifically designed with your kid(s) in mind, one where they can learn about God in a setting that is fun and full of energy. Each child will be placed on a team and be involved in a small group according to their age. These teams will be involved in games, worship, crafts, and snacks – all while learning about who they can be in Christ. We have an awesome group of team leaders that are passionate about giving your kid(s) the time of their lives. This is not your typical Vacation Bible School, we promise!

If you can’t make it Wednesday night or Thursday night, then please consider volunteering for our Friday night Family Night Event. We are anticipating several hundred children and families and could definitely use all available hands.

1. LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE | STARTS SUNDAY

Do you hate being lied to? You ever been guilty of telling one? If we could be honest, sometimes the church is indirectly guilty of the same thing. Sometimes the church says one thing, but actually does the complete opposite. We invite you to join us the next four weeks as we look at some of the lies the church loves to tell.

August 8th – “Everyone is welcome to our church”
August 15th – “You’re a good Christian”
August 22nd – “We care about people”
August 29th – “We love the world”

Essential James | week 5

August 3rd, 2010 No Comments

* DAY 1… James 5:1-6 “A Warning to the Rich”
1) GOD is not calling being “rich” evil or wrong but focusing us on where our hope lies. Where did the “rich” people in this scripture place their hope?
2) With 80% of the world living on less than $10.00 a day, we should see ourselves as the “rich people” in these verses. Do we live as if our hope is in GOD or the money we make?
3) What freaks you out more; no money or no time with GOD?

* DAY 2… James 5:7-11 “Be Patient”
1) According to verse 8, what do we give-up when we lose patience?
2) Verse 10 says we will suffer many hard things. How many of those should we be patient through?
3) Do you react with patience in hard times?

* DAY 3… James 5:12 “Be Careful What You Say”
1) Yet another warning about our speech. Do you believe GOD truly cares what comes out of our mouths?
2) Chapter 3 of James told us the tongue “could not be tamed”. Can we succeed in controlling our tongues? Who can control your tongue? Do you ask HIM too?

* DAY 4… James 5:13-18 “The Power of Prayer”
1) How do we talk to GOD?
2) Prayer is not just words but an action confessing where our hope lies. So, if we don’t pray what does that say about where we truly believe we’ll find hope?
3) Have you ever asked GOD to be your hope?

*DAY 5… James 5:19-20 “Saving a Soul”
1) What should we do when we see other followers of Christ living in sin?
2) Is it enough to just point a finger at their sin? What actions should we take to bring them back to living for Christ?
3) Is someone trying to point out sin in your life?

Beach Blast VBS | Aug. 18th – 20th

In just a few weeks, we will be holding our first ever Vacation Bible School for the kids of PRC and our community. We have a deep passion as we enter our third year of ministry to UP the level in which we’re impacting kids through our church. We really believe that this event is going to set in motion some things that we have been dreaming about in regards to the future of PRC Kids. Below you can find-out more about this event and how you can partner with us to make this event as successful as possible.

Description:
Beach Blast is a FREE event for children 3 yrs-6th grade. Beach Blast is an experience specifically designed with your kid(s) in mind, one where they can learn about God in a setting that is fun and full of energy. Each child will be placed on a team and be involved in a small group according to their age. These teams will be involved in games, worship, crafts, and snacks – all while learning about who they can be in Christ. We have an awesome group of team leaders that are passionate about giving your kid(s) the time of their lives. This is not your typical Vacation Bible School, we promise!

When:
August 18th & 19th from 6:00p – 8:00p
August 20th from 5:00p – 9:00p [Family Night]

Family Night [August 20th] includes: inflatables, games, free food, and giveaways. Free for the whole family.

Cost:
This event is going to be FREE for everyone that attends, but in order for our church to pull off a community event at this level – it is going to cost $4,000. Normally something like this would be part of our normal budget, but with a summer dip in finances and just finishing the renovation project on our new facility – it’s not something we are in position to cover out of the general budget. We are asking for you to partner with us as we do whatever it takes to reach the children of Alamance County with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

We are asking for you to consider giving a one-time gift to help us make this event a total success. No gift is too small or insignificant – every little bit counts in a major way. I want to thank you in advance for helping to make this event a total success. Every time we call on the people of Pine Ridge Church to rise to the occasion – you always knock it out of the park. Our VBS is an incredible opportunity for us to make a lasting impact on children both inside of PRC and throughout our community. We often say, “It is our desire to reach thousands of families in Alamance County and beyond – one child at a time”. I believe we are going to see God do some incredible things as we rally together to make Him famous in the lives of kids. Thank you for your faithful support, commitment, and generosity to PRC. Volunteer Staff Night of Vision | July 28th

We want to invite you to be a part of our Night of Vision this coming Wednesday night, July 28, at 6:30pm. This is going to be an incredible night of worship, and Pastor Tadd laying out the vision for our volunteer staff and church for the coming year. At Night of Vision, we will reveal some of the exciting things that are planned that are going to take our culture to the next level. If you are a part of volunteer staff, we want you to be there. Childcare will be provided free of charge. I can promise you that you will want to do everything you can to make sure that you are at Night of Vision! See you Wednesday!

1) Is the Spirit of GOD (the Holy Spirit) willing to take 2nd place in our lives?
2) How does GOD react to the “proud”?
3) How do we receive HIS grace?

* DAY 3 – James 4:7-10 “Give Yourself to GOD”
1) Whom should we resist and whom should we seek after?
2) What is GOD’s promise if we draw near to HIM?
3) What should our reactions be to the sin in our lives? Do you truly react this way?

* DAY 4 – James 4:11-12 “You Are Not the Judge”
1) What are we really doing when we speak against fellow believers?
2) Who has the right to create the law and judge others?

* DAY 5 – James 4:13-17 “Let GOD Plan Your Life”
1) What is GOD’s warning to us in vs 13&14?
2) How should we plan our lives?
3) According to verse 17, what are we guilty of if we do not do what we have learned is “right”?

Pine Ridge Weekly Update

Here are a few quick hits of what is going on at Pine Ridge Church this week!

1. The Essential James | continues this Sunday
Last Sunday, we talked about the connection between faith and works. James 2:17 says, “In the same way, Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” In other words, real faith will always sync up with real works. If you missed the message, watch online here.

2. Summer Giving Update
This year our giving has been good, but it hasn’t been as strong as it needs to be and we have recently fallen behind on our budget. Some of this is to be expected in the summer when lots of people travel and are on vacation, but I’m praying that we’ll continue to be a church that gives generously and meet the needs of God’s church. We have some great things coming up and really believe that God is going to use this church to continue to make an impact on Alamance County. Let’s see if we can make up this $8,500 shortfall together and move into the fall months with great momentum.

* DAY 1 – James 3:1-5a “Controlling Our Tongues”
1) What is the warning in these verses?
2) When has your tongue been hard to control?

* DAY 2 – James 3:5b-8 “The Untamable Tongue”
1) GOD says our tongue can be like “a fire”, where does the source of that fire come from?
2) If our tongues are unable to be “tamed” then do we have freedom to say whatever we want?
3) Do you ever ask GOD to help you control your tongue?

* DAY 3 – James 3:9-12 “Our Tongue Is For One Purpose”
1) Should we curse people Monday through Saturday and then praise GOD on Sunday?
2) Can we expect “good” to come out of us if we are allowing “evil” to come out of us as well?
3) Do you need to ask GOD to purify your speech?

* DAY 4 – James 3:13-15 “Living Wise”
1) How should wisdom be expressed?
2) What does GOD say about “boastfulness” and “bragging”? Where does it come from?

* DAY 5 – James 3:16-18 “Godly Wisdom”
1) In verse 17, what is the first result of Godly wisdom?
2) What is the wisdom from GOD always ready to do?
3) Does your own life reflect this type of wisdom?
